Fully Funded Ph.D. Student Positions in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Focus: Supply Chain Management and Logistics
We are seeking two fully-funded Ph.D. students with a strong optimization background to join our research group for projects in supply chain management (SCM) and logistics, starting in Fall 2023/Spring 2024/Fall 2024.
Research topics focus on addressing time-sensitive and large-scale problems while integrating behavioral models in classical problems in SCM and logistics. The projects will be tailored to match the background and interests of the students and will include topics such as
- Developing a unified framework for the logistics of disaster response,
- Designing cost-competitive resilient supply chains,
- Addressing capacity allocation problems in service systems,
- Modeling customer preferences and behavioral models in service systems
Ph.D. students will be provided with funding to support their research and education. The students will work with Dr. Bahar Çavdar (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=hKT-fUMAAAAJ&view_op=list_works) in Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at RPI.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience in coding and optimization
- Good writing and communication skills in English
